2026 HONEY DESCRIPTIONS & AVAILABILITY

NOTE:  The severe drought experience in Virginia this spring has led to a much lower yeild in honey extractions.  As you can see below, we have already begun to run out of some of our extractions and are running low on some others.

FROM OUR CENTREVILLE APIARY

2025 Extraction #6A - 7/4/25:   NEARLY OUT OF STOCK   This is a darker version of Extraction #6; it has a slight earthy flavor with a hint of molasses and anise.  Some have said it has a very distinct Chicory-type flavor.

2025 Extraction #7 - 7/12/25:   AVAILABLE   This very dark honey has a hint of extraction #6's characteristics, but is much thicker and has a stronger, almost tangy tone with hints of molassass and/or black licorace.  We have had a lot of people calling it "savory".  It is a must-have for our friends who truly enjoy earthy honey!  Several of our friends from the Middle-East (Saudi, Yemen...) have said that this extraction is very similar to the honey they get back home.  We now call this our Savory Sweet.

2025 Extraction #8 - 8/13/25:   AVAILABLE   This very dark honey has a very unique flavor.  It is very thick and has a strong taste that a lot of people prefer over extraction #7.  Though the "sugar" content is like all the other honeys, this one really hides the sweetness so we have given this one the name Savory non-Sweet.

Extraction #1 - 5/4/26:   STOCK RUNNING LOW   Golden in color, this early season honey delights with its distinct floral aroma and taste.  Its has a definite sweetness, making it perfect for drizzling over toast or adding to tea.  Beyond its culinary appeal, this honey is known for its potential allergy-fighting properties, offering a natural remedy for seasonal allergies (especially those beginning toward the end of February and into the beginning of May in the northern Virginia area).

Extraction #2 - 5/18/26:   AVAILABLE   Medium-dark amber in color, this Tulip Poplar honey is full-bodied yet smooth with buttery caramel notes.  This extraction also includes the remnants of Extraction #1, so it serves as a good back-up for early-season allergy preparation, but we recommend doubling up on how much to use (as if that's a downfall) since it has a lower amount of the early-season allergens.

Extraction #3 - 6/5/26:   AVAILABLE   Dark amber in color, this honey is creamy and smooth with just a slight hint of floral notes.  We find this honey to go well in just about everything.

Extraction #4 - 6/17/26:   AVAILABLE   This honey was nickname "Midnight Bliss" between me and my friend Jimmie.  Other names Jimmie's wife came up with are Onyx, Southern Hospitality, or Sunday Morning.  She says the taste kind of reminds her of a certain old southern syrup.  Black in color, it is without a doubt the darkest honey we've ever extracted.  Don't let that dark color fool you though as it is full of flavor and has a perfect sweetness.  Looking forward to trying it on my pancakes soon.

NOTES:  Extractions #7 and #8 are also known as our Spotted Lanternfly Honey or Forest Honey.  This is the very honey that scientists in 2024 determined had health benefits that outweigh the health benefits of Manuka honey.  We recently read an article published this year that says this honey could very well be the most healthy honey in North America.

FROM OUR PURCELLVILLE APIARY

Extraction #P-1 - 5/2/26:   OUT OF STOCK   Golden in color, this early season honey delights with its distinct floral aroma and taste.  Though it is simiar in taste to Extraction #1, it is definitely less sweet, and compliments yogurt well.  Like Extraction #1, this honey is also known for its potential allergy-fighting properties, but since it comes from our Purcellville apiary, its benefits would be more well suited for people living closer to Purcellville.

Extraction #P-2 - 5/25/26:   OUT OF STOCK   Golden in color, this honey has a floral aroma and a taste that is both light and delicate.  It goes wonderfully in most teas.

Extraction #P-3 - 6/10/26:   STOCK RUNNING LOW   Amber in color, this honey has a deep, rich flavor that finishes slightly fruity.  Maia says this honey is her favorite of all of this year's extractions.

Extraction #P-4 - 6/30/26:   AVAILABLE   Light Amber in color, this honey is nothing short of smooth.  It is lightly floral and has a sweetness that is not over-powering.  This very well could be our best (my opinion) Purcellville extraction of the year.

FROM OUR DELAPLANE APPLE ORCHARD APIARY

Extraction #D-1 - 5/26/26:   OUT OF STOCK   Golden in color, this honey has a distinct fruitiness that everyone finds to be delightful.  No surprise to the fruitiness as the bees that produce this honey are located right in the middle of an apple and peach orchard.  I'm enjoying it by the spoonful!

Extraction #D-2 - 7/1/26:   AVAILABLE   This one won't last long!  Lightly colored, this honey is sure to please.  I has a decent amount of sweetness and has a very distinct fruitiness that kind of reminds one of Lychee/Peaches.  I doubt many will pass up the opportunity to get this one after having a taste.
